Joy is the emotion that our brain runs best on. Joy, according to Jim Wilder, is “the feeling we get when we sense that someone is glad to be with us.”
Learning how to return to joy from other emotions that are hard wired into us is a characteristic of emotionally mature individuals.
Emotions, such as anger, sadness, fear, despair, shame, disgust, are not automatically bad. How we handle and process those God given emotions determines whether we can live joyfully in relationships with ourselves, with others and with God.
